Lego Hobbiton Diorama

No news to report on the Lord of the Rings TV front as the many months of radio silence shows. To break it up, head over to Brothers-Brick for a look at a fantastic Lego version of Hobbiton based on the Middle-Earth films. Created by Jake Hansen and Cole Blood, the around 11 square feet diorama has a ton of details that helps bring the creation to life.

Massive Lego Erebor

Standing at 7 feet (2.1m) tall, 5.5 foot (1.7m) deep and 6 feet (1.8m) wide is this massive 120,000 Lego brick version of Erebor from The Hobbit trilogy. Created by Lego master builder Michal Kazmierczak, this 286 pound structure isn't just about the gates outside of the mountain but also everything inside including the Throne Room and treasury where Smaug napped. Retelling The Hobbit in 72 Seconds With Lego

Below is a Legoized cute retelling of The Hobbit in 72 seconds using the amusing, cute version that Lego has been using for its videos and games only this isn't official. Keep in mind that the below is the book version, not the movie version, but technically there are a few moments that spoil the final film for those that are not aware of the complete story.

Lego The Hobbit Video Game Trailer

After the (probable) success of Lego The Lord of the Rings video game, the one for The Hobbit is prepping for release. Below is the first trailer for the upcoming game. Most of the footage focuses on events from the first movie with a second tease of Lego Tauriel. Currently there is no release date but the title suggests that it covers the entire The Hobbit trilogy so probably around Christmas 2014 so as to avoid spoiling The Hobbit: There and Back Again.

Awesome 200,000 Lego Rivendell Diorama

The large example of awesome below is The Lord of the Ring's Rivendell built from 200,000 Lego as created by Alice Finch and David Frank. The duo is familiar with epic from last year's 400,000 Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts creation. The creation was made by screenshots from TLOTR trilogy, making of books and sketches of the model built for the film including a Weta model that provided the overall layout. The large diorama re-creates various moments from the movie such as the river washing away the Ringwraiths, Fellowship meeting, and more. It even has its own lighting effects. Lego Erebor from The Hobbit

In a fitting tribute to the upcoming release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is a massive 80,000 piece Lego recreation of Erebor as designed and built by Blake Baer and Jack Bittner. The 56" tall diorama is more or less depicts the Dwarf stronghold from before Smaug taking it away and took over 400 hours to complete from concept to final result. Three New Lego The Desolation of Smaug Lego Sets Tease Story Points

Three new Lego sets for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug reveal a few story points for the upcoming movie. One of them is known to anyone that has read the novel with a playset of the Mirkwood Elves. The other two are new to the story with two playset for the Battle of Dol Guldur between Gandalf and Radagast versus Azog and his orcs. The backside of the boxes can be found on Flickr.

Epic Lego Battle of Helm's Deep Creation

Using a combination of 150,000 Lego bricks, 2,000 mini-figs, and six months of man hours to build has resulted in this truly epic Lego version of the Battle of Helm's Deep as depicted in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Created by GOEL and Big J, the final result weighs about 400 pounds. It is not an official Lego creation but it should be. Official Lego The Tower of Orthanc Set Announced

Today Lego announced their version of The Tower of Orthanc from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. This is not the same as the fan masterpiece that was created over a year ago. The official version stands 2 feet tall, made of 2,359 pieces and will retail for $200 when it is released in June. The tower is made for play set fun as the front of it is the sheer black, creepy tower, while the back is open with multiple floor of play set items, trap door, glowing palantir and other play features. The set will come with a Great Eagle, buildable Ent figure and five mini figures. Below is the announcement video with press release and lot more images here.

Toy Fair 2013 Lord of the Rings Lego Sets

This weekend the 2013 New York Toy Fair was held where various toy companies showed off their upcoming products to toy sellers and the press. From Lego comes a few additional sets as part of their Lord of the Rings line. The sets are 79005 The Wizard Battle, 79006 The Council Of Elrond, 79007 Battle At The Black Gate, and 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush. Hit those links to view galleries of each thanks to FBTB. The Hobbits Cast Meets Their Mini-Figs

It seems that the cast of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey were able to meet their Lego mini-fig counterparts long before the sets were announced back in the summer. At least judging by the photos posted on Facebook that show the actors in full character makeup holding their mini-fig counterpart. The full gallery can be found here.

Lego Lord of the Rings Out Now

Just a reminder that Lego Lord of the Rings has been released for all consoles and the PC. The game is based on the movie, using the voice work and music from the films to re-create the trilogy in the Lego (aka kid friendly) way. Lego Lord of the Rings Halloween Humor, Demo Video

Brotherhood Workshop has released a Halloween themed video based on Lego Lord of the Rings Video Game. In addition, a new 15 minute video demonstrates the game play. It was scheduled for release on October 30th but has been pushed back to November 13th. The demo below has The Hobbits on Weathertop dealing with crows as they drop deadly bird crap on them (nope not kidding). The action sort of picks up with the attack of the Ringwraiths. Too early to pass judgement but this early footage makes me wonder if the game is actually any fun.

Lego Lord of the Rings Dev Diary #3

Traveler's Tales has posted "Journeying Forward", their Dev Diary #3 video (Part 1 | Part 2) for Lego Lord of the Rings that is coming out on October 30th. This one focuses on how use co-op modes and other game mechanics to move the player forward within the story.

Next Wave of Lego The Hobbit Sets Reveal Movie Spoiler

A new Lego poster has revealed the next Lego sets that will be released for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.  Most of the sets do not seem to reveal any particular story point that isn't already known to anyone that has read the novel.  One of them however seems to indicate a major revision to the original story.

Lego Lord of the Rings Dev Diary #2

Traveler's Tales has released their second developer diary for Lego Lord of the Rings that is coming out on October 30th. The last one focused on re-creating Middle Earth. This one focuses on the characters and events.

Lego has released two new posters for Lego The Lord of the Rings that is coming out on October 30th. One poster depicts the Legoized villains while the other is for heroes.

Recreating Middle-Earth for Lego Lord of the Rings

For the upcoming release of Lego Lord of the Rings video game, below is a video from the Traveler's Tales team that created the game as they discussed how they recreated Middle-Earth lego style while remaining faithful to the movies. The game will be out on all gaming consoles and PC on October 30th.
