New LOTR Video Game: Shadows of Mordor Trailer

A new video game based on the Lord the of the Rings and The Hobbit movies is coming out on October 7th. Called Shadow of Mordor, is set in the 60 year gap between the two trilogies as players control the ranger Talion. It seems the story is original but uses the designs and ideas from the movies. The game will be released on Playstation 4, XBox One and PC.

New Lego The Hobbit Video Game Trailer Done Ocean's 11 Style

A new trailer has been posted for the upcoming Lego The Hobbit video game that is done in the style of the movie "Ocean's 11" that introduces most of the game cast. Very tongue in cheek and cute, the game is set to come out sometime in Spring 2014. What is not clear (and the trailer doesn't clear up), is if this game includes all three movies or does it split the The Hobbit trilogy in two halves with a part 2 coming out later for when The Hobbit: There and Back Again is released.

Lego The Hobbit Video Game Trailer

After the (probable) success of Lego The Lord of the Rings video game, the one for The Hobbit is prepping for release. Below is the first trailer for the upcoming game. Most of the footage focuses on events from the first movie with a second tease of Lego Tauriel. Currently there is no release date but the title suggests that it covers the entire The Hobbit trilogy so probably around Christmas 2014 so as to avoid spoiling The Hobbit: There and Back Again.

Just a reminder that Lego Lord of the Rings has been released for all consoles and the PC. The game is based on the movie, using the voice work and music from the films to re-create the trilogy in the Lego (aka kid friendly) way. An interview with the developers is here and can order it from Amazon here.

Lego Lord of the Rings Halloween Humor, Demo Video

Brotherhood Workshop has released a Halloween themed video based on Lego Lord of the Rings Video Game. In addition, a new 15 minute video demonstrates the game play. It was scheduled for release on October 30th but has been pushed back to November 13th. The demo below has The Hobbits on Weathertop dealing with crows as they drop deadly bird crap on them (nope not kidding). The action sort of picks up with the attack of the Ringwraiths. Too early to pass judgement but this early footage makes me wonder if the game is actually any fun.

Guardians of Middle-Earth Battle Profile One

A new video has been posted for the next Lord of the Rings game called Guardians of Middle-Earth. The game is a "defense of the ancients" style format that has you playing as a "hero" character that tries to destroy the enemies base while defending their own and levels up as he kills enemies. This first battle profile gives you a look at Legolas and the Witch-King. The game is set for a December 2012 release on XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. I assume the price will be in the $10 range but nothing official has been announced.

Lego Lord of the Rings Game Play Video

The One Ring has posted game play footage from Lego The Lord of the Rings video game that is due to be released in a few months. I think this was shown at E3 earlier this month but not entirely sure. It shows off game play sequence from when Galdalf goes down with the Balrog and a little of the after action with the remaining Fellowship. No release date yet but probably in time for Christmas on all platforms.

Lego The Lord of the Rings E3 Demo

This week E3 is being held in California. The annual expo showcases the next year or so worth of releases. One of those is the Lego The Lord of the Rings video game. The trailer was released last week and now thanks to IGN we have a look at some of the game play elements. Tidbits of info are plans to include characters that may not have necessary showed up in the movies. The journey in the game is a lego-ized recreation of the Tolkien Middle-Earth map with many areas to explore that may not just be specific to the trilogy. The game will be released on all consoles including handhelds.

Lego Lord of the Rings Trailer

Below is the trailer for Lego Lord of the Rings that re-creates scenes from The Fellowship of the Ring in the Lego style. Like the rest of the Lego games, I suspect it will be fun and whimsical. Probably more will be revealed about that game at next week's E3.

Guardians of Middle Earth Trailer

In time for next week's E3, below is a trailer for Guardians of Middle Earth, a "Defense of the Ancients" (DOTA) style game. DOTA refers to the Warcraft III free mod that pits at least two teams against each other under the command of a "hero" unit with the goal of destroying the opponents' Ancient building while simultaneously defending their own. The Hero unit leveled up by destroying enemy fodder units and enemy heroes (which resurrect after a time delay). I guess in this case the idea will be to have Hero (Gandalf, Gollum, etc.) representing each faction as they probably protect various environments of Middle Earth. I assume actual game play elements will be demoed at E3.

Lego Lord of the Rings Game Leaked

While not officially announced, it seems the soon to be released Lego Lord of the Rings sets revealed that a video game is coming. Lego: Lord of the Rings video game will probably follow the same formats as the Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones Lego games. The European release date seems to be October 26th, 2012. No US release date but probably around the same time to take advantage of the holiday sale period. Previous games where released on all consoles including handhelds so assume the same here since the graphical requirements are relatively low.
