Variety is reporting that Flight of the Concords actor Bret McKenzie has joined the cast of the Hobbit. It was rumored just a few days ago that he was asked to reprise the role of Figwit which was a fan created name (stands for "Frodo is great ... who is that?") for the cameo appearance as an elf in Return of the King. However, while he is returning as an elf, the character is called Lindir from Rivendell. It is not indicated if he is playing the same character with a more Middle-Earth name or a different character but likely the former. As The One Ring noted, Lindir is an actual character from The Fellowship of the Ring novel who briefly appeared in the Many Meetings chapter who asked Bilbo to play a song again.
