The Hobbit Films Delayed A Year
Warner Bros has pretty much officially announced that the two-part The Hobbit films are coming to theatres in December 2012 and December 2013, one year later than initially planned. This is according to the Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog. The reason for the official statement was due to an error in the IMAX 20-film deal that had listed the release date as December 2013 suggesting a two year delay that was then corrected as 2012 which led to additional confusion since the common wisdom was a 2011 release date. Technically this isn't really a "delay" since the 2011 and 2012 dates were never officially announced (nor has the film officially been greenlit). Just like that, Tolkien fans have about a 31 month wait to get their fix. On the bright side this gives Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson plenty of time to tweak this film into a masterpiece without having to rush the job.
