The Lord of the Rings trilogy director and The Hobbit Executive Producer Peter Jackson is being honored with knighthood by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and thus adding the title of "Sir" to his name. The honorific will become official on New Year's Day. The Knighthood is a list compiled specifically for New Zealand and approved by Queen Elizabeth II.
Knighthood is considered the highest honor for British (and I assume New Zealanders) citizens to "recognize service and achievement in all fields."
Congratulations to Sir Peter Jackson.
