A few months ago
rumors started circulating that Saiorse Ronan was cast in The Hobbit. It was since
debunked by the actress but that doesn't mean she still isn't interested in working on the film with Peter Jackson who directed her in The Lovely Bones. As reported by the
LA Times Blog:
"Pete is adding a lot of characters in the film adaption," she said. "Hopefully they have a part for me."
The 16-year-old, whose action thriller "Hanna" comes out April 8 (more on her and that shortly), declined to reveal what part she'd play in "The Hobbit." Instead, she offered that "on IMDB they say I'm playing an elf [specifically Itaril, a character not in the novel that was described in casting reports as a young female fighter who falls in love with an elf lord]. "We’ll just have to figure it all out."
"It would be great to go back. I love Pete," she said. "It’s such an amazing family unit down here because it's such a small country, and they use a lot of the same crew [for each film]."
According to
Bleeding Cool below is the casting call description for Itaril:
[ITARIL] FEMALE, A WOODLAND ELF, this character is one the Silvan Elves. The Silvan Elves are seen as more earthy and practical. Shorter than other elves, she is still quick and lithe and physically adept, being able to fight with both sword and bow. Showing promise as a fighter at a young age, ITARIL was chosen to train to become part of the Woodland King’s Guard. This is the only life she has ever expected to live, until she meets and secretly falls in love with a young ELF LORD. This role will require a wig and contact lenses to be worn. Some prosthetic make-up may also be required. LEAD. AGE: 17-27. ACCENT – STANDARD R.P.
